Ingot is a term that refers to any metal mass that is cast from a molten state with a specific composition, weight, shape, and components. Many metals are commonly cast as ingots, including gold, silver, platinum, and tin. Ingot designs include a variety of shapes and sizes that are finalized based on the desired performance and metallurgical requirements of the final product.

Ingots are typically cast at the foundry stage of production. Molten metal is poured directly from the furnace into pre-prepared molds. When the molten metal solidifies, it is removed from the mold. Then all the extra material on the surface of the ingot is removed and if needed, the ingot is marked and moved to a special storage area.

There are different types of ingots, and we will explain two types of lead and zinc ingots.
